My good friend, Miles Shea, who is the principal of this school in Feltwell, England, commissioned this song. He came up with the chorus chant which really makes the song work. The students and faculty use it at all their events and that is a great honor.

This school is in Netzaberg, Germany and their mascot is the dragon. The music teacher, Mr Ayres, has been fantastic about teaching this song to the students every year. The lyrics are even printed on the first page of their yearly annual. This one is also fun to perform live.

THE BALLAD OF WILBUR SCHWEINFURT

I wrote this song in 2002 right after the first deployment to Iraq of The 1st Battalion, 77th Field Artillery Unit based in Schweinfurt, Germany. Schweinfurt in German means Pigtown and the mascot for Schweinfurt Elementary School is a paper mache pig called Wilbur. The soldiers carried “Flat Wilbur’s” with them to connect with their families back home. This video was done in Iraq in 2007 and I didn’t feel right about posting it until these troops were out of harms way. The post is closing in 2013 and I have many fond memories of my dozen or so visits to it. This was the first school song I was asked to do and I am most proud of what is came to represent. Enjoy!

I wrote this song for The Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) Elementary/Middle School in Mons, Belgium. The school has families from Belgium, France, England, Spain, Germany, The Ukraine, Greece, Turkey and several other countries. The song has become quite popular with the students and the included video is of combined classes performing it live in front of the European Parliament, including their special guest Jane Goodall, in May of 2013 in Brussels, Belgium. They kids did a terrific job.
