Santa Songs (Lyrics)

SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN
by Haven Gillespie and J. Fred CootsYou better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I’m tellin’ you why
Santa Claus is coming to town

He’s making a list
Checkin’ it twice
Gonna find out
Who’s naughty and nice
Santa Claus is coming to town

He knows when you’ve been sleeping
He knows when you’re awake
He knows if you’ve been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake, oh

With little tin horns
And little toy drums
Rooty toot toots
And rummy turn turns
Santa Claus is coming to townThere’s curly head dolls
That cuddle and coo
Elephants, boats
And kiddie cars too
Santa Claus is coming to town

The kids in girl and boyland
Will have a jubilee
They’re gonna build a toyland town All around a Christmas tree, so…

Refrain

RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER
by Johnny MarksYou know Dasher and Dancer And Prancer and Vixen
Comet and Cupid
And Donner and Blitzen
But do you recall
The most famous reindeer of all…Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows
All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games
Then one foggy Christmas Eve Santa came to say:
“Rudolph with your nose so bright
Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”
Then how the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer
You’ll go down in history!

SLEIGH BELLS

by Gene Autry and Michael Carr

Sleigh bells jingle
Jing jing jingling
Jingle jingle
Jing jing jingling

Sleigh bells jingling
Jing jing jingling
Everything’s alright
What a happy sight
Santa’s busy as a bee tonight, oh

Sleigh bells jingling
Jing jing jingling

Christmas trees aglow
Holly and mistletoe
And the whitest kind of snowAll the kiddies are sleeping
As he rides through the sky
But there must be no peeping
Or he might pass you by

Sleigh bells jingling
Jing jing jingling
Santa’s on his way
Hear the sleigh bells say
A happy Christmas Day

HERE COMES SANTA CLAUS
by Gene Autry and Oakley HaldemanHere comes Santa Claus, here comes
Santa Claus
Right down Santa Claus Lane
Vixen and Blitzen and all his reindeer
Pulling on the reins
Bells are ringing, children singing
All is merry and bright
So hang your stockings and say your prayers
‘Cause Santa Claus comes tonight

Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus
Right down Santa Claus Lane
He’s got a bag that’s filled with toys

For boys and girls again
Hear those sleigh bells jingle jangle
Oh what a beautiful sight
So jump in bed and cover your head
‘Cause Santa Claus comes tonightHere comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus
Right down Santa Claus Lane
He’ll come around when chimes ring out
It’s Christmas time again
Peace on Earth will come to all
If we just follow the light
So let’s give thanks to the Lord above ‘Cause Santa Claus comes tonight

CHRISTMAS DAY IN MAY
by Dan Crow
I remember long ago
And far away I’d say
A mix up on the calendar
Put Christmas Day in MayThe children snuggled into bed
Yet sleepless in the heat
They sneaked a peak at Santa Claus
With sandals on his feet

On Christmas Day in May
December’s far away
It’s Santa’s working holiday
A Christmas Day in May

He wore a striped t-shirt
With silver swimming trunks
And in his sack he carried ice
In small and larger chunks

Then in each Christmas stocking
He placed a cooling cube
Then removing suntan lotion
He gave to each a tubeRefrain

Then he whistled for his reindeer
As up the vent he rose
And the children saw one reindeer
With a badly sunburned nose
So in his air conditioned sleigh
They heard St. Nicholas screech
A very merry Christmas this year
And I’ll see you at the beach

UP ON THE HOUSE TOP
Traditional; Arranged by Dennis Q’HanlonUp on the house top reindeer pause
Out jumps good old Santa Claus
Down through the chimney with lots of toys
All for the little ones’ Christmas joys

Ho ho ho
Who wouldn’t go
Ho ho ho
Who wouldn’t go
Up on the house top click click click
Down through the chimney with good St. Nick

First comes the stocking of Little Nell
Oh dear Santa fill it well
Give her a tape for the VCR
Maybe a doll or a little toy car

Refrain
Look in the stocking of Little Bill
Oh just see what a glorious fill
Here is a book and a basketball
And a little walkie talkie for a friend to callRefrain

WILL SANTA FIND US HERE?
by Dan Crow, Justine MillwardMommy, Daddy, Me and Patty used to
have a big house
We had a great big dog named Cody and
a little cat named Mouse
We always had a Christmas tree with
branches very thick,
But then we had to sell our house when
Daddy got so sick

Refrain

Can you tell me, do you know?
With Christmas Eve so near
We move around from day to day
Will Santa find us here?

Santa always used to come and leave a
bunch of toys
But last year he just couldn’t find a lot
of girls and boys

That time we slept in a car, with no
place for a tree
And it was hard to close my eyes and
pretend not to seeRefrain

(Instrumental)

Bridge
Oh please Santa do your best
We don’t have a real address
Can your reindeer help you find
All of us at Christmas time?

Patty wants a Barbie Doll and Mommy needs a coat
I would like a basketball and a chocolate float
Daddy really needs ajob now that he’s not sick
And we’d like a Christmas tree with branches very thick

Refrain

ELF
by Dan CrowI’m an elf
work, work, work, work, work, work
I’m an elf
work, work, work, work, work, work
I’m an elf
work, work, work, work, work, work
And I never get to be by myself
I’m a tired little overworked elf

Santa Claus, he likes everybody everywhere
Likes to spread that holiday joy,

But while he tends his sleigh and reindeer
Who do you think will make each toy
For every little wonderful girl and boy?
Me-that’s who!Refrain

Well, every time I get a little chance
to take a break
Another batch of letters comes pouring in
My back is sore and all my bones ache
The cold and snow dries up my skin
Here comes another order here we go again,
Oh, no…

SNOW
by Dan Crow and George OjaIf I was a snowman
I’d be right at home
I’d make myself bigger
By rolling along
I’d build a big snowhouse
By the North Pole
Wherever the snow fell
There I would go
Snow, silently waiting to blow Snow,
everyone plays in the snow Snow,
havin’ a time, don’t you knowThere’s nothing quite like it
In summer or fall
The rain in the springtime
Is no fun at all There’s nothing the matter
With bright sunny days,
But I love when the snow comes
I love when it staysRefrain

SANTA CLAUS, HO HO
by Dan Crow and Malvina ReynoldsChristmas is my favorite time of the year
Santa Claus is coming with his tiny reindeer
Santa will be bringing lots of toys and cheer
Won’t be very long until Santa is here

Santa Claus HO HO
Santa Claus HO HO
Santa Claus HO HO

Santa is a symbol of joy and peace
We can sing together in harmonies
Santa is a symbol of a time to share
A time to give and a time to care

Refrain

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS
(IS MY TWO FRONT TEETH)

by Don GardenerAll I want for Christmas is my two front teeth
My two front teeth, my two front teeth
Gee if I could only have my two front teeth
Then I could wish you Merry Christmas

It seems so long since I could say
“Sister Susie sitting on a thistle!”
Gosh oh gee, how happy I could be,
If I could only whistle

Refrain

JINGLE BELLS
Traditional; Arranged by Dan CrowDashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
O’er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bob-tail ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight

Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh
